Very busy morning with cleaning rooms and breakfast did not feel like running at all. Andrew made me feel guilty any excuse will do ect ect. Needless to say went running around Ennerdale. Weather not good at all wind blowing across lake and not much to see. Anyway managed three splits of eight minutes and did not stop at all. Also managed sprint at the end so very pleased with myself and I enjoyed the run feel so much better. Hoping to get up a fell this week to balance out the running.

How it all began
Last year I decided that I needed to get fit; too much work and not enough time meant that I had lost my fitness level and was unhappy with my general well-being.
Therefore, I decided to sign up for a 5k run, a strange task for someone who hadn't run for more than 30 years. I followed a training schedule and was pleased when, in June, I ran the 5k in 34 minutes. I felt better both physically and mentally and was proud that I had done something which was so out of character.
However, after a bout of illness and an incredibly busy period at work, I soon lost much of my fitness. It came as a shock to realise how much I struggled to climb even minor fells and my confidence began to diminish. This lack of fitness and confidence meant that I began to suffer from vertigo even on small walks. It was time to do something!
My cousin's 70th birthday is approaching and he has decided to tackle Scafell Pike to celebrate. I would love to be there but know that I have a lot of work to do if I am going to be able to complete the walk. I am hoping that this blog will help me focus and and also give me the motivation I need to help me succeed.
